Greetings Friends,

October is my hands down favorite month and not only because it's my birthday month. (October 2, shared with Mahatma Gandhi, comic legend Groucho Marx, and photographer Annie Leibovitz, to name a few).

Of course, we also have Halloween coming up. Recently I got a head start on Spooky Season by helping multi-published writer pal, Leanna Renee Hieber celebrate the release of her new nonfiction book: AMERICA'S MOST GOTHIC: HAUNTED HISTORY STRANGER THAN FICTION. Co-written with Andrea Janes, this deeply felt, thoroughly researched book provides a spirited exploration of the gothic tropes that characterize American lore.

This beautiful hard cover edition, autographed by both Leanna and Andrea, can be YOURS. For FREE. Sign up for my free History With Hope Substack between now and October 30th and be entered to win. (Offer limited to one winner, U.S. only).

For those of you looking for some smooching with your spine chilling, there's my time slip romance, THE HAUNTING, available on Kindle for 99 cents.

Investigating a noise in the attic of her historic home, Professor Maggie Holliday encounters a handsome man in a Civil War uniform. He calls her "Isabel," seduces her in ways the shy academic had never dreamed of, then literally vanishes.

With every fleeting visit, Maggie's mysterious lover, Ethan, takes her closer to the edge of ecstasy and madness. Is he really a ghost? Far from chilling her, his touch is incendiary; it all feels so real and so very, very good. And so very familiar.

Ethan insists Maggie's the reincarnation of his long-lost love. And after a few incredible nights in his arms, Maggie is inclined to believe him. But does she dare surrender to a passion that transcends time, tragedy, and even death?
