Hi Friends,

April here on the east coast saw winter holding on with a vengeance though we did have one week of beautiful, sunshiny reprieve during which the Hubs and I seized our chance to check out the annual orchid show at the New York Botanical Garden. This year's program was Mr. Flower Fantastic’s Concrete Jungle — installation art with flowers, mainly orchids, as the medium. Immersive and breathtaking, clever and whimsical, the show was a love note to New York City and the Queens neighborhood where the anonymous creator, who styles himself Mr. Flower Fantastic, grew up. Alas, the show wrapped April 26th. If you didn't have the chance to go, I hope you enjoy these pictures.

When I wasn't outside soaking up every drop of available sunshine, I was at my desk dutifully writing. This month, I was super honored to be asked to guest blog on the Historical Novel Society of North America's website.

My post, "Writing the Historical Saga" is condensed from my presentation at HNS's national conference last summer in Las Vegas. If you're interested in writing a saga, or historical fiction of any kind, give it a read.
